A movement is born
In 2023, a coalition of faith-inspired philanthropies and donors in the U.S. and U.K. came together with an aim to raise awareness of the high rates of maternal deaths around the world. Months of consultations and planning culminated in For Mama – a charitable giving and advocacy campaign asking the world to think about what we can — and should do— ‘for mama’ to ensure that life-saving interventions reach the mothers and babies who need them most.
Over the course of Ramadan in 2024, For Mama mobilized over $13M for maternal health programs and drove thousands of people from more than 130 countries to speak out in solidarity about the need to end preventable maternal death.
Building on this success, For Mama has now evolved into Every Pregnancy, a partnership-driven organization poised to continue transforming the state of maternal health care for years to come.

As a mom to twins who just turned one, I've only recently begun to hear the very sweet sounds of someone calling me 'mama'. It's something I don't take for granted — knowing that every two minutes a woman dies during pregnancy or childbirth. What gives me hope is also knowing that stat is preventable, and that a campaign like 'For Mama' is one of the first steps.
