Okoa Kichanga Project
Okoa Kichanga is a nationwide initiative by the Doris Mollel Foundation to end preventable newborn deaths. By training healthcare workers and engaging families, we have already saved over 45,000 lives in 2024 and aim to reach all 31 regions of Tanzania by 2030.

Doris Mollel Foundation is a female-led nonprofit dedicated to ending maternal and newborn deaths in Tanzania. Founded with a focus on premature babies. Our program, Okoa Kichanga, trains healthcare workers and equips neonatal units with life-saving technology. Since 2024, we have trained over 2,000+ healthcare providers across six regions, resulting in a significant improvement in newborn survival. Our advocacy has secured $22 million in government neonatal funding and extended parental leave for preterm families. By 2030, we aim to reach all 31 regions with lasting, system-wide change.
