Born out of the crisis, Behbud Association of Pakistan emerged in 1965, following the war, as a grassroots initiative supporting widows and orphans from a humble volunteer's garage. Over five decades, it evolved into Pakistan's premier women-led organisation, empowering hundreds of thousands of underprivileged women to:
i) Preserve traditional crafts.
ii) Achieve economic independence.

Behbud, a pioneering NGO committed to economic empowerment of women, has embarked on its most ambitious endeavour yet: establishing a state-of-the-art 100-bed Maternal and Children's Hospital in Rawalpindi.
Too many women in Pakistan face childbirth without the care they need, but Behbud is changing that. Through its medical clinic and a soon-to-open 100-bed hospital, Behbud provides safe deliveries, prenatal checkups, and mental health support. Monthly health camps in remote areas reach women most in need, ensuring that no mother is left behind. With a strong advocacy push, Behbud is not only saving lives today but shaping policies that will protect women and babies for generations.
