Gaza & Malawi: Save a Mother's Life
In times of disaster, supporting mothers to breastfeed their babies is life-saving, yet over 95% of pregnant and lactating women in Gaza are experiencing malnourishment. Moreover, 94% of maternal deaths occur in low/middle-income countries such as Malawi, and most could have been prevented.

In Malawi, Doctors Worldwide is ensuring that midwives and other healthcare staff are equipped to handle birth emergencies, reducing deaths caused by preventable complications. In Gaza, where food and medical supplies are scarce, the team provides breastfeeding support, recruits lactation consultants, and ensures that malnourished mothers receive essential nutrients. By strengthening local healthcare systems and training frontline workers for a long-term sustainable impact, Doctors Worldwide is making childbirth safer for women in crisis.
